    The “Almost” 70’s Style Jeans

    The Flared Jean Pants

It’s called having a “flare”; a flare for fashion, style, and the things you love. It also reminds me of the ’70-’80’s era and the pictures I used to look at of my parents sporting such cool pants with a fashionable flare for style. See how I did that? “Flare” in style!!  Now, let’s fast forward to present times and the trend creeping back in which didn’t take much convincing for me to go out and get this Just Float on Flare jeans by Free People .

There’s so much character with this look.  I wish this would have been available last year because it would have been the perfect look to wear to my friend’s tupperware 70’s party! Still, these are fun jeans and I plan to wear them for a while before retiring them to my wardrobe in hopes the trend will resurface again soon.

Oh..and these jeans are super soft and made from stretchy fabric. I love all the detailing on the stitches in the back part of the outfit. Since I love FreePeople clothing brand, I also picked up a t-shirt from the same store and with a variety of colors to choose from, ended up with two! My shoes are from Inagruv and I love the concept of footwear with interchangeable accessories.

Now where’s the excuse to wear these jeans again? Do you own a pair of flared jeans?

A Touch of Festive Colors This Christmas

    A Touch Of Festive Colors

As Christmas approaches, everything comes to life in a magical way. Sparkling lights illuminating the streets and strung around trees like a pretty wrapped gift, beautiful displays in store windows, festive and seasonal food at every corner, and a happy attitude replacing the usual aura of people on the run.  It seems like most people around this time of year take the time to soak in the holiday cheer.

This is such a wonderful time and a reason to explore the city with the family and join in on the festivities. The Gaylord Texan Resort features a favorite story coming to life in 2 million pounds of ice! This year’s feature is Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and we are already planning to go as part of our yearly holiday tradition. There’s also ice-skating which is mesmerizing during the day and even more spectacular at night. My favorite place to visit with the kids is the Prairie lights in Grand Prairie because you can wear super comfy clothes or pjs and just sit in the warmth of your car driving through a park with holiday themed lights and listening to Christmas music.  It is oh, so pretty, and we love having hot cocoa in the car while slowly driving through the park. Then there’s the Symphony which is certainly a MUST for us. So much to do in so little time!

With our fun-packed schedule, I always love to be dressed comfortably when we make these family outings to join in on the Christmas festivities. Comfortable jeans and a scarf with boots is a necessity because with our Dallas weather, you never know if you’re going to get warm, wet, or a slightly nippy day. So far, I have worn this outfit at least a handful of times and I plan on wearing it over the weekend when we take the kids on our holiday adventures which may likely include a little bit of walking around too!

On this particular occasion, I made do without a jacket since it wasn’t as cold in Dallas but still managed to wear these cute Michael Kors boots as I had a day of holiday shopping and walking around on my agenda. My other splurge was investing in jeans that can be worn through the seasons. I opted for Joe’s white stretchy  jeans that are slightly frayed at the hem. These look great with boots and booties, and will also look awesome with wedges or heels in the Spring. Now isn’t this just the most merriest time of the year?

    Fall Neutrals

Obsessed with this cardigan! Love the subtle neutral striped colors which is easy to mix and match with any look. Also these Calvin Klein mules are surprisingly comfortable and under $100. I have worn them on repeat since I got them at Nordstrom last year. You can still find these at Overstock.com

    Latest Obsession

Sweater weather and layering is in full force and I have been getting in the spirit. It is so hard to resist with all the amazing deals (and so has my shopping bag haha). I’ve also been finding a few reasonably priced items and wanted to share some of my recent buys. This cardigan is one I saw and as soon as I tried it on, I knew it was going to find a home in my closet! I love the colorblock shades and ballon sleeves that makes it so pretty. Just the perfect way to  bring a little fun to any wardrobe and still stick to a Fall theme look. These come in two colors at Nordstrom Rack.

Obviously my mules are on repeat and I love the gold detailing on the back of the heel. Surprisingly my clutch purse was one of those lucky finds at Target. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find these online so it may warrant a trip to a Target store if you like them as much I do. I have linked a different color for you. They are just so cute that I have plans to wear these with my Uggs when it gets a tad bit colder in Dallas..haha. These jeans are a great fit and also under $100! I have a tiny waist and wider hips so it is always such a challenge finding jeans that fit but these are absolutely perfect and a big selling point for me. Some of these items are currently on sale so you can get great deals.

I’ve linked a few of my favorites below as well.

    Casual Pieces for Fall

    Casual Pieces

Is there anything more convenient than transforming your Summer look into an Autumn look? Well, that is if you live in Dallas where our Autumn weather tends to fluctuate between warm days and some cooler nights. Every season I try to look at my wardrobe and see what I can wear into the next season and what I can’t.  I especially love this look because anything lacy equals femininity and can easily be layered with a light coat or jacket, or even scarf for a more Fall-ish look.

The best part about finding casual pieces is versatility. If you know me, you will notice that I have had these wedges and jeans on repeat. These wedges are on sale and if you don’t own a pair of wedges, then now is the time to invest in one. For our Dallas temperature, I can pull off this look on most days. The lacy top is light and just gorgeous.  There is also something about the neutral cream color that goes well with almost any look. For a quick pop of color and to embrace the holiday season quickly approaching, I wore this Michele watch and invested in this extremely reasonable bag from Target and have linked a similar one here. You will be amazed on the finds at Target and I must confess that it is quick becoming one of my favorite stops.

Do you ever re-wear some of your Summer outfits into Fall?

    Spring Wardrobe Essentials & Accessories

    Dreamy Spring

My love for warmer temperatures and the beauty of Spring is not really a secret. Maybe it is because I grew up in Ghana, a tropical country filled with rich culture and history, or it could be that I am just the happiest when the weather is warm but not too hot.

Recently the weather was so gorgeous in Dallas that I decided to step out and enjoy the city. Downtown Frisco was the place to be with restaurants and the Frisco Heritage Museum that consists of early and mid-20th-century buildings with various period exhibits.

For those who do not know much about this city in Texas, it has become one of the fastest-growing city in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. It is also home to “The Star”, a 91-acre campus that hosts the world headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys.

For this blog, I wanted to show you a few Spring essential pieces and accessories that are simple enough for this season into the early Summer months. Where else would I shoot it than by these antique buildings that have so much character right next to the Frisco Heritage Museum.

As always I am curious to hear your thoughts about the location as well as about what you like to wear in the Spring months. Who else is excited about this season?  Now let us talk about my fashion choices.

    The Outfit

    Spring Essentials

Recently I went to Frisco and caught up on some beautiful scenic areas in this gorgeous city. I wanted to be comfortable and stylish at the same time, so here is the outfit I picked out.

Ribbed Turtleneck Sweater – Yes, with our Dallas weather fluctuating in temperature, I opted for a light turtleneck sweater on this cool cloudy day. I usually pick neutral colors but this mustard colored sweater is just so fun and fresh. It feels good to wear something that is soft and light. The color reminds me of Spring; think sunflowers, marigold, and chrysanthemum.

Trendy Sneakers – I simply love these Adidas sneakers! I remember getting them with my daughter early in the year. We had such a great time shopping for similar outfits and matching shoes. I went with the rose gold design and she went for gold which is one of her favorite colors. I plan on wearing these during Spring, Summer, and most likely during the Autumn season.

Denim Culottes – Style is great but comfort is a necessity especially when you are out and about. I went with this calf-length jeans in washed denim. The high waist and style reminds me of the 70’s! It is currently one of my favorite outfits so I decided to purchase a similar one, also in white, with frayed raw-edge hems.

Spring Accessories – For a huge bag lover getting this Rebecca Minkoff crossbody mini bag was a last minute decision. When choosing the perfect bag to wear with your outfit, it is important to take into account the occasion. For this casual outing, I wore an almond brown bag because it matched my DKNY leather cuff bracelet and complemented my watch and sunglasses.

    What do you guys think?

Key Pieces to Make a Statement Outfit

    Making a Statement

As soon as we hit Spring, Dallas starts looking like a totally different city. All the outdoor restaurants and shops are busy again, and I love how people come together to catch-up on many different interests and topics while enjoying the beautiful Spring weather.

This is a fun time for me because it means being outdoors; whether it is spending time on coffee dates with friends or more intimate outings with my family. Whatever the occasion, finding a few key pieces can transform your wardrobe into simple chic. There are so many great ways to add texture to your outfit without resulting in you looking like you really made an effort.

The most exciting part of personal styling is your ability to play with your look in a fun and playful light. There’s something about the feminine elegance that a skirt brings to an outfit that draws me to them. This three-layered tulle skirt is not only flattering but surprisingly versatile. It is the perfect transitional piece for the Spring season.

Skirts just never go out of fashion and with so many textures and styles there is a flattering skirt out there for everyone. Making a fashion statement does not have to be seasonal. Selecting the right pieces can make any look absolutely cute and give you room to enjoy the outdoors.

    The Outfit

The art of selecting the right key pieces can either make you look stylish or have the opposite effect altogether. I carefully selected this three-tiered tulle skirt because of how light and airy it feels. Maxi skirts are so versatile and feminine. The black elastic waistband adds a pop of color to the rather pale pastel color of the skirt. I simply cannot count how many times I have worn this gorgeous skirt! Since this skirt is no longer in stock, I have included similar skirts in the “shop my favorites” link below.

This crushed velvet minaudière is on point and the perfect ensemble to any look. What I love about the minaudière is the drop-in chain strap with clasp closure. The velvet material is super soft and can be worn up or down to accentuate your style.

For the shoes, I went with Vince Camuto. The color is neutral and it was a pleasant surprise to find that they are quite comfortable. You can wear this pair with jeans, skirt, or a dress. For someone who easily gets blisters in new shoes, these ones passed with flying colors.

I decided to stick with my style and add a denim jacket to the look. By the way, denim jackets always look amazing with any style and we all know it was necessary for any typical spring weather! I also quickly grabbed a pair of sunglasses to protect my eyes on my day out, because we all know sunglasses are a necessary protection for your eyes.

As with most of my outfits, I like to add a few pieces of jewelry. Jewelry pieces can make a statement too! Depending on your preference, jewelry can be an added touch to a timeless classic and effortless look.

How do you plan to add key pieces to your wardrobe this Spring?

Getting the Most Out of Your Casual Wear

Never underestimate the importance of simplicity. I particularly enjoy casual chic since it is a great look for everyday wear.  Color and style can make a difference when selecting outfits for your wardrobe.

When I shop, I usually keep in mind a couple things; 1) how much wear i can get out of the outfit, 2) quality, and 3) cost.  So, I was pleasantly surprised when I accidentally stumbled on this bow cuff long sleeve blouse from Target on one of my shopping errands. The day was beautiful and I was enjoying my grocery shopping spree when I saw the blouse from the corner of my eye, and immediately knew I had to get it. I guess it was “meant to be”. This blouse is also available on Poshmark.

I love to mix and match my brands. I also don’t think there is anything wrong with mixing high end brands with more affordable outfits. In fact, it is genius! You can create a very stylish look by just adding a nice designer piece and you can get the most wear out of it. It really is all about how you feel good on the inside.

    The Outfit

Let’s start with the bag. I got this Cole Haan square leather satchel from Saks Fifth Avenue as a gift last year. I believe it is still available and now on sale so an even much better deal! I am infatuated with the color and how many compartments it has. The perfect satchel to carry all your essentials because we all know that a woman can’t have enough extra stuff in her bag! I have only used it a few times and it sits perfectly in my wardrobe until I need a change.

My shoes are surprisingly comfortable. The heels aren’t awfully high and give the perception of height. I usually love nude color shoes because they are like a blank canvas and can go with almost any look. For this look, I went for some easy pieces to mix it up.

Jeans can be so versatile and are the perfect wear for day to day activities. These high waisted original distressed vintage skinny ankle jeans from Express fits well and I think is super comfy. Simple accessories like earrings and this essential oil diffuser necklace can be part of the look, right? I am a big fan of essential oils so this is the perfect necklace for me.

This ultimate hydra-plump lip booster serum from Make Up For Ever is the ultimate touch for everyday wear. It hydrates and smoothes, adding fullness to your lips. The color (o1 Cinema) is beautiful and I really, really love it.

Wishing you a lovely Friday, hope you are all having a great time!

How To Perfect the Between-Seasons Outfit

    Getting Ready

As Spring is fast approaching, our wardrobe choices begin to transition as well. While it is not quite time to ditch your Winter outfit for your sprint one, it is time, though, to find a happy medium! In Dallas, the weather can be 70F degrees one day and then drop 30F degrees by night or the next day. This makes it important to invest in a practical jacket that is comfortable and practical.

Since the weather is still cool enough but not warm just yet, I wanted to show you few transitional pieces that I thought are simple enough and will take you through the end of Winter into Spring. Luckily, transitional pieces like this Michael Kors jacket are the perfect solution for those confusing weather days.

People often wonder why do bloggers wear certain things, like a pair of mules in winter or a spring shirt underneath a winter jacket. The thing is, I love mixing it up especially around this time of year, so I hope that this post will inspire you. As always you can read about the look below in the next few photos and shop my favorites.

    What I Wore

When it comes to outfit for this look, I really wanted to wear a spring color in shades of blue. I went for a blue Michael Kors jacket and paired it with dark blue jeans. To tone down the shades of blue, I mixed it with a white top and white mules.  For the accessories, I stayed with an affordable Guess crossbody bag which I have worn a few times, and kept my jewelry to a minimum.

I think the different shades of blue and the “little boy blue” pantone spring color is so much fun! Although I usually tend to stick to neutrals, I have found that the occasional additional color to an outfit can give you the freedom to experiment, and express your sense of style and fashion.  For an almost spring look, I couldn’t resist pairing the overall look with this trendy and affordable mule. Like most of us, I love to find a good pair of shoes that is reasonably priced and stylish.

At the bottom of the post you can find my picks for both casual and high end, so hopefully you can find something you like too!
